Save Heath Barn – Boxmoor’s Hidden Gem!

By March 25, 2026No Comments
A group of people stand outside the barn. They hold placards saying things such as 'We love our barn' and 'Community power'.

Heath Barn is a beautiful Grade II listed building in the heart of Boxmoor, a 500-year-old gathering place that has served this community as a farm, a music school, a wedding venue and a home for generations of local families.

It has stood empty since 2019. And is now at risk of being lost to private development forever.

Hertfordshire County Council has given Our Heath Barn CIC an exclusive window to raise funds and prove that Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead wants this building kept for the benefit of their community.

If they don’t raise enough, it goes to the open market and could be converted to private housing, lost to this community for good.

Our Heath Barn CIC have until 11th June 2026 to raise funds to help turn the dream of turning the barn into a community space into a reality.

Imagine a place in the heart of town where you can enjoy a coffee beneath the shade of the courtyard magnolia tree, take a yoga class beneath the impressive beams of the west barn, bring your children for a creative workshop in the snug, bump into your neighbours, and feel immense pride in something beautiful on your doorstep.

A cosy café. Creative workshops. A gallery and event space. A garden for little ones to play. Therapy and 121 wellbeing rooms. Office space to hire. Artists in residence. Much needed studio space for local creatives.

A place where people of all ages can gather, create, learn and belong.

Hemel Hempstead doesn’t have anywhere quite like this. Heath Barn can be that place.

Our Heath Barn are currently crowdfunding to raise the funds to secure the site for the community. Their Crowderfunder page provides more details of their aims and how you can help them reach their target.
