Heritage Network is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Charlotte Tomlinson as our new Development and Outreach Officer for England.
Charlotte has worked in heritage for more than a decade, where she has focused on the importance of historic places and their potential to deliver positive benefits for communities. Before joining the Heritage Network, Charlotte was part of the team at Hull Maritime, a major heritage-led regeneration programme in Yorkshire which includes seven historic sites and two historic ships. Prior to this, she researched and wrote about the role of historic sites and buildings in placemaking at the Universities of Leeds and Lincoln – in other words, understanding and celebrating what makes our historic built environment so special.
Charlotte is excited to start meeting the Heritage Network’s members in England, and supporting more organisations to rescue and reuse ‘at risk’ sites for communities. She can’t wait to learn more about the amazing projects that are taking place around the country, and supporting more people through their heritage journeys.
Charlotte says “I’m not about defining what heritage is or isn’t – if you have a “thing”, maybe a site, a building, a space, or something else, that you want to celebrate, utilise, and pass on to future generations, then the Network is for you. We’re here to support you through that process and beyond. I’m so thrilled to be joining the team and getting to learn so much more about the incredible heritage-led work taking place across England.’
Charlotte is also looking forward to delivering more events across England, and working with the wider Heritage Network team including our new England Heritage Trainee, Sophie.
Charlotte’s role is made possible with thanks to funding from Historic England.
