A group of over 80 volunteers at Acton Arts Project have been busy bringing the library back to life.
Mainly working over weekends, the group have pulled staples up from the floor to help prepare the original wooden floor for sanding and sealing, cleaned windows and walls, taken down plaster where necessary, polished the brass fittings on the doors and have begun painting the iron railings outside the building as well as starting painting on the inside.
The group signed the lease on the property on the 21st April and their new tenant – Global Skills – signed the lease for the upper floors on 22nd May.
It’s fantastic to see the building bustling with activity and a massive thank you to all the volunteers. It may be Volunteers’ Week this week but HTN’s members’ volunteers work year round to secure a future for our wonderful built heritage. Three cheers for the volunteers.
