The results of Heritage Trust Networks 2023 impact survey, recently published and launched at our Conference in Dunfermline shows the breadth and depth of activities carried out by Network members and the impact they have on their communities.
The survey was undertaken in January and February 2024 and looked back and asked Network members about their activities, financial performance and impact.
Among the remarkable statistics the survey reveals is that Network members completed 240 heritage regeneration projects last year, restoring over 42,000 sq m of internal space and 64 hectares of land. In doing so they removed 43 properties from national ‘at risk’ registers. 54 new sites were acquired by Network members to bring the total number of historic sites they own to over 2,000.
The total turnover of Network members was nearly £140 million with nearly £30 million of that spent on heritage restoration. Nearly half of members’ income came from trading activities.
Speaking at the Network’s Conference in Dunfermline, Chief Executive, David Tittle said, “Whatever people’s role in the Network, whether just starting out or an experienced heritage leader, a funder, heritage business or local authority, they were all part of creating this tremendous impact for people and places. They should all feel proud of what they have achieved.”
The Impact Survey is set to become an annual event so that growth and change in the Network’s members can be tracked over time.
The Impact Report document also provides an annual review of the Network’s activities and a summary of our new 5 year strategy.
