Heritage Trust Network is seeking up to three new members for its Board of Directors. This is a unique opportunity to join the leadership of the fastest growing organisation in community-led heritage regeneration.
The Network now brings together over 750 members including nearly 550 not-for-profit heritage organisations and 40 heritage businesses. We have a staff team of six supported by our Board. You could help steer our ambitious strategy to strengthen our organisation and help our members succeed. We are recruiting new trustees to ensure continuity, bring in new experiences and perspectives, and diversify our board.
Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the government heritage agencies of the four nations of the UK, the Network is going through a period of unprecedented transformation and growth. We have just been successful in securing development phase funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a new project which will develop our work over the next five or six years. We are using digital technologies to maximise our influence and effectiveness, reviewing and transforming our service offer, and making our organisation more financially sustainable.
The Board currently consists of eight people drawn from our members and other professionals working in the field. We are recruiting up to three new board members to:
- ensure continuity as some of our existing trustees will come to the end of their terms in November 2022 and others will have to retire over the next two years.
- bring greater diversity to the Board
- bring additional skills and experience
Trustees are expected to attend four meetings a year (three online, one in-person) as well as the annual conference and take part in ad-hoc online meetings and email discussions in between. Board membership is not remunerated, but expenses will be fully covered.
“Becoming a member and eventually a trustee of Heritage Trust Network was like walking into a warm and friendly pub on a cold rainy night. I immediately felt welcome and supported by an amazing team who shared a similar passion and determination to preserve our heritage assets for generations to come.”
– Hopwood DePree, trustee since 2018
